Will TRT Cause Blood Clots?

A recent meta-analysis showed no correlation between Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT) and an increased risk of blood clots. BUT TRT can cause an increase in your hematocrit levels. Essentially, this means you will have thicker blood which may increase your risk for developing a clot.

For this reason, it’s crucial you are only using TRT if it’s being prescribed and monitored appropriately. I am always on top of my patients’ blood counts to ensure they are using TRT in the safest way possible.

Before I prescribe TRT, I order a comprehensive lab panel to assess their baseline hormonal levels & their complete blood count. If you’re considering TRT, you may order the lab panel directly here: https://unleashedmedical.com/order-labs
