Does TRT Increase Risk of Prostate Cancer?

Getting a PSA is not required for TRT. It’s is an individual decision that shouldn’t be taken lightly.

I’m not against Prostate Cancer screening, I’m against providers (usually providers at TRT clinics) ordering a PSA (test used to screen for prostate cancer) without knowing why they’re ordering it and without explaining to their patients the implications of the screening itself.

  • TRT does not increase your risk for Prostate Cancer

  • Actual risk factors include age over 65, being black, and having a positive family history

  • There is no recommendation to screen low-risk men (whether on TRT or not)

  • Screening for Prostate Cancer comes with risks that you need to be aware of before agreeing to a PSA test
