Do I Need an "Estrogen Blocker" While on TRT?

It’s becoming popular for clinics to give “Estrogen Blockers” i.e. aromatase Inhibitors/AIs (Anastrozole) to all of their patients receiving Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT).

This is WRONG and dangerous.

Anastrozole is only indicated for treating breast cancer in women. It’s not meant for or studied for use in men on TRT.

If you’re on an appropriate and individualized dosing protocol and you have a provider who is monitoring your labs and making appropriate dosing adjustments as needed, it’s very unlikely you will ever need an AI.

If you were to develop symptoms such as gynecomastia (man boobs) while on TRT, a short course of Anastrozole (or preferably Tamoxifen) might be appropriate.

The side effects and risks associated with the long-term use of aromatase inhibitors completely negate the benefits of being on TRT in the first place.

Don’t allow a TRT clinic to treat you as another number in their business algorithm. If you’re going to be paying out of pocket for medical care, you need to make sure you’re working with competent providers who treat you as an individual.

If you would like to discuss this further, sign up for a consultation.
